RETURN TO THE FORBIDDEN PLANET

Shakespeare’s forgotten Rock ‘n’ Roll Masterpiece

Olivier Award Winner for Best Musical

LIFT OFF – Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th June 2012

Come on board for five unique out-of-this-world experiences

This cosmic, high energy rock'n'roll musical is parody based on Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' and the hilarious, spoof 1956 B-movie 'Forbidden Planet'..

Join me ‘Captain Tempest’ and my zany crew for a rock music rocket ride, on board the Intergalactic Starship Albatross, taking off for our routine survey flight to outer space. During the flight you will experience many hit rock and pop songs from the 50’s and 60’s including the well-known “Great Balls Of Fire, Teenager In Love and Good Vibrations from cosmic bands like The Byrds, The Animals and The Beach Boys, to name just a few. On board the flight we have a new female Science Officer and your friendly crew, who will be led by the Bosun and the Navigation Officer. Your inflight meals will be provided by Cookie, our ships cook (who is also a hopeless romantic)!

As we blast our way through space, we may encounter slight turbulence and such things as asteroid storms. The Science Officer will flee the starship taking the only emergency shuttle craft (but don’t worry I’ll lead you safely through the unknown). Meanwhile our ship the Albatross will be pulled inexorably towards the Planet D'Illyria...which is not marked on our charts! On the planet D'Illyria we meet the sinister scientist, Dr. Prospero; his delightful daughter Miranda; Ariel, her faithful robot; and an uncontrollable monster, the product of Prospero's Id, with huge tentacles that threaten to breach the space craft.

To find out what happens next and to enjoy a fun, interactive musical rock journey, all you need to do is buy a ticket for “Scientific Survey Flight Nine” on your preferred lift-off date. We hope you will join us. Tickets go on public sale at the Petersfield Tourist Information Centre and online on Tuesday 8th May 2012. You can purchase tickets earlier from the cast, members and crew or via our advanced booking mailing list.
